Fifty years ago, the Newark Street Community Garden began its first season -- on four acres of land strewn with the rubble from old Navy buildings, heavy clay soil -- and no water. It's time to celebrate the incredible spirit of community that has brought -- and held -- us together. We will have a ceremony with music and food, special guests and honored long-time gardeners.
